Playing polo has become much easier in the country then it has ever been. All the four
metropolises have well equipped clubs with their own stables. Apart from Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Madras, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur are the other cities where you
could play and learn polo.
Two privately owned polo facilities have come up very recently. This is a new trend and augurs
well for the future of Indian polo. Shikarbadi at Udaipur is the best place to go for a crash course in polo. Equipped with wooden horses and polo ponies of the Imperial Stud Farm, the
adjoining polo field is ideal for practice though it is smaller than a regulation size field. The first coaching camp was held at Shikarbadi for a group from Sweden in June this year. You
need to make your booking in advance. Shikarbadi Hotel used to be the hunting lodge of the former Maharanas of Udaipur.
